Why Beeswax
Gentle and Calming
The gentle light emitted by beeswax candles creates a warm, calming atmosphere. Because of the rolled wax, it emitts a 'Honeycomb Glow'. Beeswax is said to release the same ions as the sun, leaving you feeling warm and cosy in your own home.
Non toxic and safe for your family
Not only is beeswax sustainable it is also the only non toxic wax. Beeswax is the only wax you'll find in nature - made by bees. This makes beeswax the cleanest and safest candle choice. Its production supports apiarists, which plays an essential role in pollination and biodiversity. In contrast, paraffin is a byproduct of petroleum refining.
No Nasties & Long lasting
Beeswax candles are pure and clean. They also have the longest burn time, making them a worthwhile investment. Not only that but beeswax has the brightest and purest light.
Looking After Your Beeswax Candles
Below are some basic care guides and tips to ensure you get the very best out of your beeswax candles.
Burning Instructions:
First Burn: Allow the candle to burn for 2–3 hours, or until the melted wax pool reaches the edge. This prevents tunnelling and promotes an even burn
Subsequent Burns: Always trim the wick to ¼ inch (6 mm) before lighting to minimize soot and flickering, and allow to burn to the edges each time (or at least every second burn) to avoid subsequent tunnelling
Burn Time: Limit each session to 3–4 hours to prevent overheating and dripping.
Drafts: Burn away from fans, open windows, or vents to prevent uneven burning.
Safety: Always place on a heat-resistant surface and never leave unattended while burning.
Wick Protocol Wick Maintenance:
Trim the Wick: Before each burn, trim to ¼ inch (6 mm). Use a wick trimmer or scissors.
Monitor Flame: A tall or flickering flame indicates the wick needs trimming.
Mushrooming Wick: If a carbon "mushroom" forms at the tip, extinguish the flame, trim, and relight.
Extinguishing flame: It is recommended to dip the wick into the wax pool to extinguish rather than blow out to avoid smoking
Re-Centering: After extinguishing, if the wick has drifted, gently reposition it to the centre while the wax is still soft to ensure an even future burn.
Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight or heat sources to prevent softening or warping. Our wrapped candles are very delicate and prone to chipping if bumped or handled roughly
